Working systems before pitch decks

We kept solving the next problem.

Cognogin brings together years of working R&D in adaptive education, secure human communication, emergency response, behavioral health, and human-controlled AI. One problem led to the next. The result is a layered platform built to help people — without handing important decisions to an unconstrained model.

Our rule is simple: if we have not built it and used it in the lab, we do not present it as a capability. Outcome claims still being validated are labeled as such.

How we got here

One working system exposed the need for the next.

Cognogin was not assembled to follow the AI wave. Its layers came from solving practical problems over time: how people learn, how groups communicate securely, how leaders make decisions from too much information, and how AI can help without becoming the authority.
Adaptive Education

Learn how the individual learns.

Individualized learning, continuous feedback, remediation, and metacognition became the first layer.

Huddle · 2022

Connect people securely.

A polling and secure conferencing need became a multilingual communications platform, later commercially licensed for worldwide use.

Emergency Management

Make sense of a moving situation.

Real-time maps, data, resources, forecasts, and AI recommendations — with a human decision-maker kept in control.

Disaster Counseling
Need for structured support groups led toward BTG.
Social Intelligence
Filtering and recommendations helped shape gated AI.
Better Together

Increase the reach of clinicians.

Disaster counseling exposed the need for a purpose-built group platform. That work, with clinical expertise, became BTG.

Cognogin + Sage

Bring the layers together.

Persistent context, metacognition, secure group infrastructure, gated AI, and human authority now operate as one architecture.

“Build it. Use it. Learn from it. Then let the next real problem tell us what to build next.”
One architecture

Cognogin is the platform. The products are implementations.

The public story is deliberately simple. Cognogin is the umbrella. Sage provides the governed intelligence. Huddle provides secure human connection. Metacognition provides individualized feedback. BTG, STEP, and government systems apply those capabilities to different missions.
Sage

Intelligence with boundaries

A persistent agent that can remember, reason, and adapt — while operating inside gates around input, output, memory, action, and human escalation.

How the gates work →
Huddle

Human connection at scale

Secure, multilingual conferencing, sub-groups, oversight, timelines, polling, and distributed networking from small groups to Stadium Mode.

Huddle capabilities →
Metacognition

Feedback that changes what happens next

The system does more than store a result. It looks for misconceptions, change over time, and where the next intervention should be.

Adaptive layer →
Human Authority

AI can recommend. People decide.

In high-consequence environments, the qualified human retains authority. The architecture was designed around that principle, not added later.

Human-in-the-loop →
Why Sage is different

Powerful AI is not the same thing as trustworthy AI.

Cognogin begins with a skeptical assumption: a general AI model should not be allowed to decide for itself what it may know, remember, say, or do in an important human system. So the model is bookended by controls.
Before AI

Input gate

Define the role, permitted context, relevant knowledge, user state, and what information is allowed into the reasoning process.

Inside the system

Sage reasoning

Use modern AI for language, synthesis, pattern recognition, and adaptation — but do not confuse capability with authority.

Before the user

Output gate

Check, constrain, redirect, or escalate a response before it reaches the person or triggers an action.

Memory is gated too.A bad answer is a problem. A bad inference that becomes tomorrow's assumed truth is a much larger problem.
Implementations

Different missions. The same underlying platform.

Each implementation changes the domain rules, data, experts, workflow, and business model. The underlying Cognogin layers remain reusable.
Behavioral Health

Better Together

Licensed clinician-led groups of 8–12 people with persistent support, automated draft documentation, group matching, metacognitive feedback, and escalation.

Emergency & Intelligence Systems

Live information, layered maps, resource coordination, forecasts, social-media intelligence, and human-controlled agentic recommendations.

Evidence

Built systems leave fingerprints.

The emergency-management work is useful proof because the environment is unforgiving: live information, limited resources, changing conditions, and real consequences. The system had to make AI useful while keeping a human commander in control.
Working emergency-management prototype

Forecast, resources, and human control in one view.

The platform combined terrain, weather projections, incident boundaries, and resource allocation to support the incident commander. AI could recommend; the human could accept, modify, or reject.

Agentic recommendationsPlanning, forecasting, resource requests, staging, and communications support.
Human validationImportant recommendations were designed to pass through human and non-AI checks.
IP + stewardship

Protect the gates — not just the company.

Cognogin has 9 filed provisional patents with one additional filing pending. The core Sage gating and trust technology is intended to be placed in an independent Foundation or Trust structure — working name: Cognogin Trust — so a future purchaser of a commercial implementation cannot simply remove the safeguards or convert Sage into a data-mining system.

The structure is still being finalized. The principle is not.

Next step

Start with one real problem. Prove measurable value.

We are looking for institutional partners who want to test where this architecture can improve access, professional capacity, decision support, or learning — with clear human authority and measurable results.
